"Above all things, have fervent love for one another, be hospitable to one another, as each has received a gift, minister it to one
another." I Peter 4:8-10
We provide love and compassion to people who are experiencing a loss of family or loved ones by creating a time of refreshment and relaxation so that they can share their feelings with others and
receive comfort from the community of faith.
Are you compassionate, caring, and enjoy communicating your love and concern for others then we invite you to use your gifts of in this ministry at Immanuel. We prepare and serve refreshments or a light lunch before or after a memorial service.

"The office of deacon as set forth in scripture is one of sympathy, witness and service after the example of Jesus Christ." Book of Order, PC(USA)
Our mission is to be of service and to offer companionship, encouragement and love in our diverse community and beyond. We seek to give creative attention to those we serve, and to involve others in this ministry.
Deacons are elected from the active members of the congregation. They are people "of spiritual character, honest repute, exemplary lives, brotherly and sisterly love, warm sympathies and sound judgment." Book of Order, PC(USA)
Some of the ways that Deacons make a difference in the life of our congregation and community:
 |
sponsoring a stranded traveler with bus fare |
 |
visiting our homebound and sick
friends |
 |
loaning rent money to a family facing
eviction |
 |
emotionally supporting bereaved
families |
 |
sending birthday
cards |
If you would like to use your gifts to assist us in this ministry, we invite you to volunteer.
We could use your help to
 |
drive people to church |
 |
run errands |
 |
take people to the doctor |
 |
accompany us on our visits to the homebound |
 |
help buying supplies |
 |
help making sandwiches |
 |
creating, printing and mailing birthday
cards |
Many of our services are funded
by the Deacons Fund, which is supported by the Deacons Offering, taken during the worship service, usually on the first Sunday of the month. We rely on your contributions - please give generously!
