Deacon fund |
| |
The Deacon Board is dedicated to serving all of God's people through a ministry
of presence and financial support and welcomes requests for financial assistance. Each request will be prayerfully considered on a case-by-case basis. Priority is
given to requests for medical care, food and shelter. Members of Immanuel are
given priority, but everyone who needs financial assistance should request funds.
0
The Deacon's Fund is funded solely by proceeds from the monthly deacon
offering and deacon fundraisers. Anyone asking for assistance should complete
a confidential request form, available in the church office or from any current
Deacon. After receiving a request, three deacons will pray for discernment and
will communicate their decision within three days to the person making the
request.
As a general policy, funds are given in the form of a check, made
payable to
the
entity to whom the requesting person owes money.

Food Pantry |
|
| |
The Food Pantry is a core expression of Immanuel’s relationship with the
larger community. We welcome all those who come through our doors with
warmth
and respect. We provide food resources to our neighbors and accompany
them through their hunger and need for food. Clothing is also given as donations
are received. In partnership with Hope-Net, an
interfaith agency sponsored by
over 16 congregations, we receive money for
food from government programs
and private donations. We invite and welcome donations of food and clothing,
as well as financial contributions.
0
People who are homeless or have no place to cook can receive a bagged lunch
every day the pantry is open. Those who have cooking facilities can receive a
bag of
groceries monthly. Over 700 bags of food are distributed each month to
more than
1,500 people in our community.
0
The church congregation brings food donations as part of their offering every
Sunday as an expression of both our understanding for the consistent need for
food to survive and our solidarity with those who are hungry.
0
The Food Pantry is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. It is located in the church basement and
accessible through the Catalina Street entrance. Volunteers may come one hour
earlier, at 10:30 am on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 8:30 am on Saturdays,
to prepare bags and assist with the operation of the pantry.
